Pizza with vegan chorizo = life. Seriously guys, I tried this the other day and it was the yummiest vegan pizza I’ve had in LONG time.

Chewy, spicy and made the pizza so much more delish.

The store bought ones are great but they can get a little expensive so I made a homemade version that is a fraction of the cost! Plus, you can adjust the seasonings and spice levels to how you like it.

Ingredients for Soyrizo Recipe

I was debating whether I wanted to make homemade soyrizo using TVP (textured vegetable protein AKA defatted soy flour) or tofu but thought tofu was much more accessible to most people. Plus, it’s a lot more budget friendly!

The next main ingredient is walnuts. To be honest, you can omit the walnuts all together if you really wanted to. It just adds a nice texture but it’s still tasty without it.

And then we have the seasonings:

Soy sauce, liquid smoke, apple cider vinegar, onion powder, garlic, oregano, thyme, cinnamon, cloves, smoked paprika, chili powder and cumin.

I admit, there are a lot of seasonings that go into this soyrizo but it’s so worth it. And if you don’t have 1-3 of the seasoning ingredients, don’t worry– because theres so many spices going in it won’t affect the flavour that much.
