maggi manchurian recipe | noodles manchurian | manchurian maggi gravy with step by step photo and video recipe. manchurian or indo chinese recipes are hugely popular among indian diaspora and are made for different reasons. these are generally made with a combination of vegetables or with choice of meat alternatives. however, it can also be made with noodles and particularly with maggi noodles as a variation.

i am a big fan of manchurian recipes or in generic i like all the indo chinese recipes. i personally like the combination of fried rice with a manchurian or chilli gravy. hence every saturday night dinner, i plan to make an indo chinese gravy and rice or noodles variant. with the gravy, i try to make it unique and do not follow the same gobi or paneer based one. just the cauliflower or cheese-based one, can be monotonous and hence i look for other options. noodles or cabbage-based are my other favourite, especially when maggi tastemaker is added. you would get the extra masala spice heat from tastemaker which is on top of the sauce added to prepare the manchurian sauce. in addition to that, the maggi noodles balls prepared can also be served as a simple snack by ignoring the sauce.

furthermore, i would like to add some more tips, suggestions and variations to maggi manchurian recipe. firstly, the noodles based manchurian is a common indo chinese recipe. however, maggi noodles with tastemaker is a fusion recipe. hence if you do not like the tastemaker, you can ignore it completely. secondly, you can make the same recipe with or without gravy. i personally like it with a lot of sauce, hence i prepared the cornstarch-based sauce. you may ignore it if you like the dry variant. lastly, the recipe can also be prepared as a chilli variant with lots of slit green chilli slit with the sauce. refer my other gobi chilli recipe for detailed chilli sauce recipe.

Ingredients

for noodles ball:

  • 1 tsp butter
  • cup water
  • 2 pack maggi tastemaker
  • 2 pack maggi noodles
  • 2 tbsp onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp carrot, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp cabbage, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp capsicum, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp spring onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp chilli sauce
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup corn flour
  • 1 pack maggi noodles, for outer layer
  • oil, for frying

for manchurian gravy:

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 chilli, slit
  • 2 tbsp spring onion, chopped
  • ½ onion, petals
  • ½ capsicum, cubed
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp chilli sauce
  • ¼ tsp pepper powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp corn flour
  • ½ cup water, for slurry
  • cup water, for gravy

Instructions

  • firstly, in a pan take1½ cup water and 2 pack maggi tastemaker.

  • mix well and get to a boil.

  • crush 2 pack of maggi noodles into boiling water. you can use noodles of your choice.

  • mix well and boil for 2 minutes or until noodles are cooked well.

  • do not overcook noodles, as it turns mushy.

  • cool completely, and transfer to a large bowl.

  • add2 tbsp onion, 2 tbsp carrot, 2 tbsp cabbage,2 tbsp capsicum,2 tbsp spring onion, and1 tsp ginger garlic paste.

  • also add1 tsp chilli sauce, ½ tsp salt and mix well.

  • now add½ cup cornflour and mix gently.

  • mix well forming a soft dough. make sure not to mash the noodles.

  • grease hands with oil and prepare ball-sized manchurian balls.

  • coat with crushed maggi to get an extra crispy bite.

  • deep fry in medium hot oil, keeping flame on medium.

  • stir occasionally, and fry until the balls turn golden brown.

  • drain off and keep aside.

  • in a large wok, heat2 tbsp oil and saute 2 clove garlic,1 inch ginger,1 chilli and 2 tbsp spring onion.

  • add½ onion,½ capsicum and stir fry on high flame.

  • now add 2 tbsp tomato sauce, 2 tbsp vinegar, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp chilli sauce, ¼ tsp pepper powder and ¼ tsp salt.

  • mix well until the sauces are well combined.

  • further, add cornflour slurry. to prepare cornflour slurry, mix 2 tsp of cornflour in ½ cup water.

  • mix continuously, making sure the sauce thicks and turns glossy.

  • pour in 1½ cup water and mix well.

  • stir and boil until the sauce thickens slightly.

  • drop in prepared noodle balls and mix well.

  • boil for a minute until the flavour is well absorbed.

  • finally, enjoy maggi manchurian gravy recipe with fried rice.
