Victoria's Secret Credit Card Review

5.0 / 5

The Victoria’s Secret Credit Card is a good card that’s worth it for people who frequently shop at Victoria’s Secret. The card has a $0 annual fee, rewards of 10 points per $1, and perks such as birthday bonuses and free shipping. Plus, you only need fair credit to be approved for an account.

Victoria's Secret Credit Card Reviews Highlights

Points equal 5% “cash” back

You will generally earn 10 points for every $1 you charge to the Victoria’s Secret Credit Card, which is well above the market average for a rewards card. While most credit card points are worth about a penny apiece, the Victoria’s Secret Card gives you five times the value. Every 2,000 points that you earn gets you a $10 credit. That’s obviously not true cash back, but it might as well be if you regularly shop at Victoria’s Secret.

Fees aren’t a concern, but interest is

The Victoria’s Secret Card does not charge an annual fee, so you won’t feel any pressure to get your money’s worth. You should, however, make sure to pay your bill every month. Because Victoria is hiding a Secret in her card terms, and it’s a lofty APR. For context, the average credit card for fair credit charges 26.41%.

At least someone will give you a birthday gift

You will receive a $10 credit each year on your birthday. That’s certainly a nice gesture. You just need to make sure this modest gift doesn’t lead you to spend more at Victoria’s Secret than you would otherwise.

Not a bad way to build credit

You only need “fair” credit to qualify for the Victoria’s Secret Credit Card, which means it could help you establish credit history or perhaps continue rebuilding from previous mistakes. If you don’t know your credit score, you can check it for free on WalletHub.

Solid reviews

It’s always good to see what fellow consumers have to say about a product, so make sure to read some of the following Victoria’s Secret Credit Card reviews before submitting an application. For what it’s worth, the card has an average rating of 3.9/5 by WalletHub users.

Comenity has entered the wrong routing number for the bank on several occasions and then charged me $25.00 for their mistake each time. Extremely unreliable and poor service from phone representatives.

I had a VS card for about 10 years. My credit limit was $1,200. However, I kept my balance low because of the high interest rate. Payments were always on time. Then one year they reduced my credit to $800. It wasn't a problem because I rarely used it. However, my credit utilization went up. I paid extra on the card to bring it back down to 20 percent. A year later (around the holidays) they increased it again. Then another year they reduced it to $400. I don't like lenders that are prone to constantly increasing and decreasing credit when you have a good payment and low spending history. I paid them off and canceled the card. My credit score took a temporary hit because of the length of time I had the card. It reduced the overall years of credit that I have. I've since learned not to accept just any credit card offer unless it's a good, stable long-term card. I especially stay away from these store cards and just use a major credit card for purchases.

In December, I had fraudulent charges on my account. I was transferred back and forth between two different departments, with each claiming that it was not their problem. Eventually, someone assured me it would be taken care of. A couple of weeks later, I called back to follow up. Once again, I was transferred back and forth between two different departments before a very rude agent asked me why I hadn't spoken with the fraud department. I then explained that it's not my job to direct the representatives where to send me, and the fraud department had said it was a credit card problem, but the credit card people said it was a fraud issue. Eventually, I became angry, which seemed to get things done. A month later, I received a check in the mail for a "fraud refund." I called to confirm it was legitimate and that I could cash it. I was given the okay, and they confirmed it was mine. Another month later, they sent me a bill for the check they had sent me. This company has no idea what it's doing. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Victoria's Secret credit card is a rip-off. Even if you're a couple of minutes late with payments, they rack up a $40 late fee. They don't give customers any grace period, they don't waive late fees, and their customer service representatives are rude and unprofessional. I've been with them for years and have had an obnoxious experience. They're all about taking consumers' hard-earned money.

Applying for this card was the worst thing I've ever done for my credit score. The sign-up stated no monthly or annual fees, but even when I didn't use the card, they added random fees to my account. I had not looked at my balance for a while because I had not used the card for months. It should have had a balance of $0, as it always has after I fully paid it. I started receiving emails that I had missed a payment, to which I had to call a representative and they removed the fees, but the late payments stayed on my credit report two years later. The only late payments on my credit in the past 10 years I've owned credit cards are from the Victoria's Secret card after their mishap. I called to fix the issue and they said I needed to wait until the full two years are up to ask for a "goodwill adjustment," which is thankfully next month. I will be immediately canceling this nightmare of a credit card once the late fees are removed.

Awful Credit Card System, If I could give zero, I would. I should not have reapplied. I closed my card in 2015 for the same reason. First, you struggle to log in to your account. When you finally access it, you try to enter your account information to set up autopay, and it won't let you; then you manually pay it, and it doesn't go through. The next thing you know, foreign call center agents are relentlessly contacting you for a late payment; you're considered delinquent now too. I tried to pay it in full to get it over with, and the next month I have a $2 interest charge that I never thought I would have because I paid in full, right? No! Now $2 became $40 including late fees, and you are delinquent again! What a terrible experience with this company! Don't get this card; the discount is not enough to cover the late fees if you can't log in or pay online. You call, you wait on the phone forever, then talk to foreign agents who have no compassion, all giving deep sighs as though they're tired of talking to other unsatisfied customers like me. So frustrating. I'm closing this account as soon as I pay off this ridiculous $2 interest charge again; the charges never stop!

Worst credit card to get ... I bought $30 panties on it to try it out. Never te the card in mail I call they say they would send the card and the bill. A month pass I call back to see if they send the card. I pay $40 on the bill I told them to close the account because I never received the card they waive the late fee. I call back today to make sure the card is closed they telling me I owe $106 on the card. Now I bought panties for $30 and I paying $150 for those panties. Why is my account still open . When I call in to close the account a late fee was generated already and then here I am thinking account is closed and another late fee is generated. Ask what could be done they say nothing. So I am paying another $106 plus $2 for some other fee to close the account again.

If i could give zero star i would. Their credit card customer service sucks! Their credit card payment system forces you to pay even if its their system's inconsistency failure. No live person option when you call, all robot ai talking. So in a way when you're trying to pay overdue payment it forces you to pay, what a scam! How many americans or people are there getting sucked through this system? I got overdue by the way not because i didnt want to pay, BUT because my old VS card account conflicted with my new card account THAT THEY ISSUED! So i had no way of paying through app nor thru phone because everytime I try, my account defaulted on older card in the system which they closed. 3 months lapse, they just now reached out to me thru email saying i need to pay $177 overdue when i only owed $58. Tried calling phone again and it just went on their 4 digit social security digit loop then hangs because again, its a closed account. So i tried to see, what if i WON'T put in my social security? But mind you, it asked me 3 TIMES for my social and i ignored it 3 times too and VOILA! They actually have a live person talking! Cut it short, that person could not help you as well. Their system don't allow it. So I asked for the MANAGER, and even the manager have limited power. It wont let you refund your overpayment. If i could sue this card company and VS for this scam. Any lawyer out there!? For free or pro bono??? I'll sign up! @debi361
