Unturned Buak Mine Map
The Unturned Buak Mine Map details the tunnels outside of the central ore caverns. It should help you find your way to these ores so you can mine them. Mapping the ore caverns themselves is not possible on a two-dimensional map because they wind downward. However, navigating to the ore you want to find is pretty straightforward once you reach the ore mine. We will detail where to find each kind of ore found in the mine in the next section.
There are three minecarts that allow for fast travel through parts of the mineshafts. Each cart connects two tunnel openings together and they can not switch tracks. Additionally, minecarts cannot be locked by players, so if you see one you are free to use it. These tunnels can also be used to quickly navigate from one part of the island to the other. Especially if you know which way to go thanks to the Unturned Buak mine map we provided above. This can significantly lower your risk of being ambushed by other players. Just be prepared for a fight in the dark if someone else is down there.
Types of Rocks in the Buak Mines
Pyrite
Pyrite can be found on the walls of the outer tunnels. It is a dull yellow color and you can harvest it without any tools. Pyrite’s main use is that you can sell it for 10 TABs to James at the factory safezone.
Pyromorphite
Pyromorphite can be found on the walls of the outer tunnels. It is a bright yellow color and you can harvest it without any tools. Pyromorphite’s main use is you can sell it for 10 TABs to James at the factory safezone.
Zinc
Zinc can be found on the walls of the outer tunnels. It is a silver color and you can harvest it without any tools. You need zinc to craft a generator, an oxygenator, and fertilizer. You can sell it for 10 TABs to James at the factory safezone.
Nickel
Nickel can be found on the walls of the outer tunnels. It is gray in color and you can harvest it without any tools. Nickel is needed to craft a camp stove or a cage light. You can sell a stack of 10 nickel for 100 TABs to James at the factory safezone.
Coal Rock
Coal can be found on the walls of the outer tunnels and harvested without a tool. However, mining the coal rocks in the ore caverns with a pickaxe will yield much more. Coal is needed in large amounts if you wish to smelt other ores at a heat source. Therefore, when you go mining for the other ores always grab some coal. This way you can smelt your ores when you return to your base. Coal rocks also have a chance to drop rocks, nickel, copper, silver, and rarely a geode or diamond. Iron Rock
Iron rocks drop mostly iron ore when mined with a pickaxe. However, they also have a chance to drop rocks, nickel, copper, silver, and rarely a geode or a diamond. Iron is an extremely valuable crafting resource and you will want to gather plenty of it. Luckily, you can find iron rocks on all levels of the inner ore caverns. You will need coal to smelt your iron ore into iron.
Sulfur Rock
Sulfur rocks drop mostly sulfur ore when mined with a pickaxe. However, they also have a chance to drop rocks, silver, nickel, and rarely a diamond or a geode. You need sulfur to craft explosives and ammo. You can use charges to open safes around Buak and raid other players’ bases, so you will want to mine tons of this resource. The challenge is that these rocks are located deeper in the ore caverns where there is no oxygen. You will need an oxygen mask and tank to reach these rocks. Bottled air can refresh your oxygen and allow you to mine for longer without air. To find sulfur rocks simply reach the inner cavern and look for narrow paths downward. You will know when you’re at a level where sulfur rocks can be found because the surface of the tunnel walls will change texture.
Titanium Rock
Titanium is the most valuable resource in the Unturned Buak mines. You need titanium to craft many of the rare and high-tier items. Titanium Rocks drop mostly titanium ore when mined with a pickaxe. However, they also have a chance to drop rocks and rarely a geode or a diamond. Even more rare than diamonds or geodes, there is a chance it drops a gold ore. You can sell the gold for 1000 TABs to James at the factory safezone.
These rocks are located even deeper in the mine than sulfur and require an oxygen mask and oxygen tank to reach. You will need extra oxygen from multiple bottles of air. Once you are at the sulfur level, search for a narrow path leading downward to the titanium levels. You will notice the walls turn a dark green tint when you are almost at titanium rock level. The titanium rocks glow in the dark and this makes them very easy to see in the pitch-black darkness of the caves.
Unturned Buak Mining Tips
- You can craft bottles of air from empty plastic bottles. Simply stand near a heat source and you can fill them back up with air. These can refill your oxygen bar when you are in an area with no oxygen. If you want to go deep into the mines bring plenty of these with you.
- Stacking ores, coal, and rocks allows you to carry more out of the mine with each trip. Periodically, take time to stack your haul and make more room.
- The mine is very dark and gets even darker the deeper you go. Light is vital to navigating the mines. A headlamp is the best but you can also use a flashlight or lantern and put it away to mine rocks in the dark.
- Your light source will make your position known to other players lurking in the mine. Keep an eye out for their light source and remember you can turn yours off to make yourself harder to find. Glowsticks can be a useful tool in a fight to reveal an area without turning a light on and making your position obvious.
- Players aren’t the only thing lurking in the mine, keep a weapon handy.
- If you have a gas mask, there is an elevator in the center of the top level of the ore cavern. You can use it to quickly ascend up into the deadzone. However, beware of the dangers there.
- Trips deep into the mine for sulfur and titanium can take a long time. Plan ahead and make sure your mining tool is in good condition and you have plenty of food and water for the trip.
- The mines are also a good way to travel the island. Use the Unturned Buak mine map to go from one tunnel entrance to another.
